MAKING THE CHOICE
I've
considered applying to the "Disciples for Jesus Training School"
but I am not certain if I am really called to the full-time ministry.
Should I attend the D4J programme?
The purpose of the D4J Training School
is to prepare young men and women to enter the ministry. It is important
that we define the word ministry. Very simply, ministry is any type
of work God has for an individual in the Body of Christ and in the
work-place. That work could be in areas of evangelism, pastoring,
teaching, missions, youth or in the children's ministry. That work
could also be in the area of helps, which is a supportive role.
Every ministry or work-place needs people who are called to help
and to offer support. The training that D4J Training School offers
is ideal for anyone who has a desire to do something for God. At
D4J Training School you learn who you are in God. You also learn
your purpose and place in the Body of Christ, so you can experience
fulfilment in your life. Therefore, D4J Training School is not only
preparation for full-time ministry but our programme of study is
for anyone who desires to be well equipped to serve in the Body
of Christ or in the work-place to reach the world for Christ.
What are the standards and
requirements that determine acceptance to D4J Training School?
The most important qualification for
each applicant is that he/she be totally committed to God, with
a burning desire to do what God has called him/her to do.
STUDENT LIFE
What kind of spiritual lifestyle
expectations does D4J Training School have for its student body?
The establishment of worthy standards
of living is necessary for every believer. Thus, Christian character
is a vital concern of D4J Training School. We believe it is the
responsibility of all students to live an exemplary life and to
assist others in establishing these standards. A campus community
that is meaningfully Christian cannot neglect this dimension of
life.
When does the programme
begin?
The first term begins in the first
week of February, when enrolment will take place, and the date will
be confirmed at the beginning of January of each year.
Does D4J have student housing?
Yes, we have two houses on the church
property. These houses are equipped to provide the students with
a home away from home. Boys and girls are housed separately.
Does D4J have a dress code?
Yes. Women are required to wear dresses
or skirts and blouses and men are required to wear dress shirts
and ties for formal meetings and functions. The general campus attire
is casual.
What holidays will I have
during the year?
The students have a 3 week holiday
per year, as well as a short mid-term break. There are 4 terms in
each year.
Will I be involved in any
household duties?
Yes. Students are involved in cooking
and cleaning, as well as budgeting for the month's food supply.
The student house will be your home for the time you are at the
Training School and all the students are encouraged to be involved
in making "their home" a haven.
Will I need to provide my
own bedding?
Yes. Students must provide their own
bedding, i.e. sheets, blankets, pillows, duvets and towels.
LOGISTICS
Will I need any extra
money?
Yes, each student must have a monthly
allowance for their own personal requirements such as toiletries,
etc. Besides the monthly fee, the only other costs will be R750.00
for the Jesus Conference in Durban.
Must each student have their
own medical cover?
Yes. While at D4J, any expenses incurred
due to illness (i.e. medication, doctors fees, hospitalisation,
etc.), will need to be covered by the student. We have a first aid
box available for the students for basic needs, e.g. Band-Aid strips,
TCP, etc, which are included in the monthly budget.
CURRICULUM
Will I receive a certificate for the IT courses?
The IT courses are included in the year's programme for all students but a recognised certificate will be issued only to those students who write the necessary examinations. We will require a minimum of 5 students per examination. The fee will be approximately R150.00 per examination but this could fluctuate. Please note that these examinations are NOT COMPULSORY.
